My volunteer experiences with Mission in Church Nepal in the orphanage was definitely one of the most blessed and cherished memories I have. by volunteer experiences It totally changed my thoughts and opened my mind. I doubted and worried before I stepped out of the airport because I was afraid of the safety and cleanness in Kathmandu. However, I was totally welcomed and greeted by the most lovely smiles and laughs of the orphanage children, who took care of each other (and me ) without any selfishness.
David, the pastor of the church, manages the orphanage like a family. Every morning the children pray in the living room and sing songs. It is not a requirement for volunteers to join in the morning devotions but you are welcome to be a part of them. As well as nightly devotions at six o’clock, where we sit on the carpet in the living room in a circle, sing worship songs in Nepalese, read the Holy Bible, and pray for everyone we care about.
It was kind, warm, and beloved. Meals are the traditional local food (daal bhat) that taste the best! These were offered twice a day at 9 am and 7 pm and were very filling.
There is no set duty for volunteers experiences; however, they welcome everyone to join the daily schedule, such as walking the children to school, talking to their teachers, helping to finish homework, and playing with them. I can never forget their smiles and hugs. I will go back to visit Nepal with them for sure!
