As part of your stay Mission in church can organizes cultural exchange opportunities in Nepal. Our country is rich in culture, natural resources and beautiful landscapes. Nepal is an intricate network of ethnic groups and sub-groups who speak over 100 languages and dialects. There are many festivals celebrated throughout the year that highlight ancient Nepali customs and beliefs. This is an ideal program for anyone who has a keen interest in Nepali culture. After the completion of a three-day intensive language course, volunteers will stay with a Nepalese family in a village and participate in normal village life. Volunteers will experience the different local cultures while sharing their own culture and customs.
The main result of this cultural exchange program is that volunteers gain a cross-cultural experience. Our home stay program is suitable for families, individuals or groups. There is no age restriction. This is a unique opportunity to experience Nepal differently and immerse yourself in our culture, leaving you with an accurate and lasting impression of true Nepali culture. Our home stay program is best organized in the months of August to December. This is the time when most festivals are held in Nepal and will allow you to have exciting experiences celebrating festivals with your Nepali family. You have the opportunity to understand differences in the socio-economic status, social psychology and social sociology of the Nepali people.
Mission in Church gives you a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to Nepali society, while simultaneously allowing you to experiencing the rich culture of Nepal. Placements are available all over Nepal and we will endeavor to place you in the area of your choosing. We can place you with a family in the mountains, a valley, the jungle, the desert region, or in Kathmandu. Each region has its own standards when it comes to religious practices and cultural norms. You will live with a family in your chosen location and adopt the life style practiced there. It is encouraged as a volunteer to personalize the experience by sharing your own practices and culture with your host family and the larger community with an obvious respect for theirs. A Cultural exchange program can also offer volunteers the opportunity to visit and help at the local school if they wish.
There are four distinct religious groups practiced by people in Nepali cultures – Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim and Christian. We are able to place you in a family that practices the religion that you are interested in. The Nepali culture is distinctively friendly and open, and during your exchange you will be made to feel part of the family, if you would like to go on a cultural exchange whilst volunteering with us then we would be very happy to welcome .
