I am Debilal (David) Prasai. I grew up in a Christian family, but did not deeply trust in Jesus Christ as I was sick. My family took me to several hospitals to be treated. I underwent many treatments but my sickness did not leave, even though I always prayed for it to go away. After I graduated high school, I attended three years of a bible college program studying a Bachelor of Theology. After my graduation, I served in the churches in Kathmandu. One day as I was attending a leadership conference, I became seriously sick. Suffering from a painful asthma attack, I suddenly fell down and became unconscious. I remember thinking, “This is the day I die.” But after a few minutes, I remembered the bible verse from Matthew 20:29-34 (In that passage two blind men were healed by Jesus). I prayed for God to heal me, and promised that if I lived I would serve Him my whole life. I miraculously began breathing again; coughed up the sickness from my chest and felt filled with renewed energy. He healed me completely and I have been free from asthma ever since. I believe that Jesus healed me and I decided to serve the Lord with my whole life, for his kingdom. From that day my life has totally changed and I received the power of the Holy Spirit. God touched me and I was free from the bondage of my sickness.
I am the Founder and started the church ministry with three children in need. Soon I started to share the gospel with people and slowly they started to attend church. After a few years of sharing the gospel, I formed a small fellowship and I introduced them to worship. On 14th February 2005, the Himalayan Hope Church was established. I believe the concept of Valentine’s Day, February 14, is love, but I wanted to turn the focus from broken love on earth to the whole and eternal love of Christ. Since then the church has grown spiritually and has been preaching the gospel to unreached places. In that same time I have started a children’s ministry. God has call me to work with orphan children.
God has helped us in many areas. We have gone through many difficult circumstances but we continue to carry the gospel by the grace of God. I have a vision to change the hearts of Nepali people with the love of Christ through our Mission in Church ministries. Please pray for our ministry to be successful in Nepal so many people can save their lives through Jesus Christ.
