Mission in Church is focused on providing a safe and loving home to orphaned children who would otherwise be forced to live in very different circumstances.
Living Orphanage is run by David and Maria who have opened up their home and devoted their lives to providing the children with a safe and nurturing environment based on Christ-centered values. ‘Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.’ (James1,v27).
While volunteering with the orphaned childrens’ program at Mission in Church, there are many areas where volunteers can contribute, using their education, giftings and skills to make a life-changing impact on these children. Short-term volunteers will usually work and live as part of the family in our own ‘Living Orphanage’ in Kathmandu.   Those who volunteer in the orphanage for longer periods will have the opportunity to visit, live and work with Mission in Church’s affiliated orphanages within Nepal.
Your  work will be to  volunteer in orphanage and help the children build life-skills by assisting with homework, teaching English and health education, helping with arts and crafts, and taking part in the children’s daily activities.
Your particular skills and gifts will determine how you become a part of the children’s lives, as each volunteer is unique. By becoming involved in the lives of these orphans you will be taking on a mentor role, similar to that of an older brother or sister, and showing them compassion in a way that will have a huge impact on their lives.
